Every Christian was born again to be transformed into the image Jesus.  He is the only one we should aspire to be like.  God has given us His Spirit for this very purpose.  One of the best ways that likeness can be seen by others is when will say "I will" to living a life that selflessly serves others in Jesus' name.

It is an admirable and Christ-honoring to be childlike.  It is quite another thing to be "childish".  It should be the glory of God and of Jesus that should motivate everything we do in our communal gatherings of worship.   We must learn what it means to "worship in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-24).  We must rediscover the importance and power of the gathered Body of Christ in worship.

No one is an island.  No individual is the body of Christ.  Jesus is not a bodiless head.  If you are in Christ the Church is important to you.  If you see the Church as of no significance for your life you are disconnected from the head.  We must determine to stay connected to Jesus and to one another if we are to fulfill the mission given us by Jesus.

The people who speak into our lives are important.  This is where we learn and grow.  It is important that each of us have someone who will invest information, relationship, wisdom and life in our lives.  It is just as important that we do the same for another--some one to mentor and someone to be mentored by.

All of us have limits when it comes to listening to things we don't want to hear.  We tend to shut down.  But when it is truth that we don't want to hear we close our ears to our own eternal peril.

This message delivered by David Vaughan - July 16, 2017

David Vaughan, of Whitewater Crossing Christian Church brings a stirring challenge.  Jesus once healed a lame man after asking him the question, "Do you want to get well?"  The answer to that question would seem to be obvious, but is it . . . really?  Certain things, out of necessity, would have to change.  The same is true with us.  We may not be physically ill or impaired, but each of us has a measure of spiritual ills that needs healing.  Jesus asks us the same question:  "Do you want to get well?  Are you sure?

The final barrier that opens the flood gates of global expansion for the church is shattered in the conversion of Cornelius.  Peter's prejudice and spiritual elitism is broken down as he uses the "keys of the Kingdom" given him by Jesus to open the door of salvation to the Gentiles.

The conversion of Saul is one of the most significant events in the history of the.  God saves a radically lost man and turns in into a radically saved man, turning the world upside down for Christ.  Jesus still does the same today, reminding us that "he who has been forgiven much, loves much".  How much do we love Jesus, His church and His mission?  Are we really aware of just how much we have been forgiven?

Jesus commissioned the Church of share the gospel, first in Jerusalem, then in Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.  Much like us, they were reluctant to move beyond their immediate context--their comfort zone.  God used the persecution instigated by Satan to move the church out on mission.  As a result of their somewhat reluctant obedience the church exploded with new growth.

With Satan's failure to discourage or derail the fledgling Church in Jerusalem with the arrest of Peter and John, the moral failure of Ananias and Sapphira, or the distraction of the Apostles from their primary tasks of prayer and preaching, he unleashes his fury on the Church with the stoning of Stephen and the eruption of all out persecution.
